The tour takes place every other year, and is a highly anticipated event for this tight-knit community. This year, with coronavirus safety measures making gatherings difficult, organizers have decided to take it online.

"So many people are spending time in their gardens and yards these days,” said MJ DuPree, the Garden Tour Board president. “Instead of just canceling in light of social distancing, we saw a great way to still welcome guests into our neighborhood and share ideas and inspiration for brightening your own green space.”

This year's virtual event will feature garden tours at 10 a.m., 11 a.m. and noon. A tour guide will interview each host as they lead viewers through their gardens, while also inviting questions live on Facebook for an interactive experience. Additionally, photo galleries of each garden will be posted on Facebook at 10:30 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

“The tour will be different, but we're excited for the ways that we think we can improve the experience by going online,” DuPree said. “You can also still get the full experience by taking your laptop outside and ordering some delicious drinks and treats that day from St. Anne the Tart, the Gem City Catfé or Fifth Street Brewpub.”
